In addition to Castel del Monte, the great cathedrals, picturesque trulli, and age-old olive groves, there still exists an Apulia that is unchanged by time thanks to families who have preserved their age-old traditions. It is possible to admire an ancient Messapic tomb in a private garden at Lecce, or sample cheeses produced on site in an 18th century masseria. One can even enjoy private receptions at a castle in Salento or visit a convent on the sea that has welcomed illustrious travellers since the 1700s.
